How to make your wedding 'Party Central'

When it comes to booking your wedding the first three things a bride and groom will usually consider are date, venue and cake. Super closely followed (for the bride) by the dress, which can impact every other aesthetic decision for the big day. Extremely important and exciting! Then the flood gates open with the delight of making decisions on a whole host of other crucial aspects.

As the entertainment, we are lower down the list during the early nuptial announcements. But as experience would suggest, we are one of THE most significant additions to make the day memorable and special for the couple and their guests.

Nothing compares to the thrill of live entertainment; it gives a unique exchange of energy that no recorded alternative is comparable to. Our band are all seasoned musicians who love what we do. We love to connect with our audience and share the positive vibe that the live music brings. We all enjoy watching the happy crowd dance and sing along, and it is our duty and privilege to ensure that your night is enriched by the experience. You cannot beat the buzz as we connect with the guests who fill the dance floor and sing along with the chorus. It is the ultimate feel-good factor.

One of the most special parts of my role is to sing the brides entrance song or the couple’s first dance. These are truly magical moments and so important. With the live nature, we can swiftly and easily adjust to altered timings at the last minute, which invariably happen on the day. That might mean adapting the verses and chorus to last for the duration of the aisle walk down, so everything is timed to perfection. The Bridal party tend to walk down the aisle quicker than in rehearsal due to the nerves and excitement of the day! Or it might be putting back the evening band start times, if the speeches go on too long! We are flexible and happy to fit to the flow of your day.

The evening full band sensation is my favourite aspect of performing. My husband and I founded our current band. Rob is the drummer and we met through the music scene but were each in different bands at the time. We both shared a vision to form a wedding and party band. I am an old romantic and adore seeing people in love, so I feel utterly joyful working within the wedding industry. It is the best place to be! Together, we recruited the other members who are now our best friends. Rob was even Best Man at Dan, our bass player’s Wedding. We all have masses of industry experience. I trained professionally as a singer at stage school and have a degree and MA in Performing Arts subjects. I also present a local radio show. Lewis, the guitarist is a known lead player on the rock and originals circuit. He is also trained as an audio engineer so can sound check and trouble shoot if required. Brian, our keys player is a music educator and we call him the human juke box! He can literally play any song; it is an incredible gift! Dan is an extremely accomplished bassist who has performed at major festivals with his former originals band. Rob is the rhythm maker and manages Party Central. He is the go-to person for all enquiries and bookings. He is super organised and deals with logistics, contracts, insurance and customer liaison. You know you are in safe hands when dealing with Rob. It’s extremely important to have that group dynamic of friendship, as we all genuinely have a great time being together and playing our music, and our guests always feel that positive vibe. There’s nothing worse than watching a live band who are just going through the motions.

In the run-up to the big day, Rob checks the finer details of the booking; load-in, soundcheck, set list, requests etc. We have a neat equipment set-up that is mixed with digital technology and we all have in-ear monitoring which means you get a solid sound output in your front of house PA with minimal soundcheck disturbances. We also come armed with a gorgeous starry backdrop and sound activated light and laser rig, so the atmosphere will be amazing! We dress the part and even have a selection of ties to complement your colour palette! The best floor fillers are always the big anthems like ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’, and you can bet that all the men in the room join the dancefloor to bounce and sing along to ‘Mr Brightside’.

My advice to those that are happily planning their nuptials is to remember the importance of the impact of live entertainment. It is authentic, meaningful and electric! The energy and excitement created from the moment the first chord strikes up, and you hear the bass drum thumping, along with the interaction, communication and the full-on party atmosphere will give you and your guests a night to remember forever.
